Celestial attic is throwing that Worldcon Party you are missing. The World Science Fiction Convention is being held this weekend in San Jose, California. We are all stuck here in Cleveland; we do not have to be quiet about it. Come out and join us at the Bottlehouse Brewing Company at 2050 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights from 4pm until close tonight, Sunday August 19, 2018.
We will have a two-hour panel discussion, first about the Hugos, and then about science fiction in general. What are we reading and seeing that is good? What is awful? Audience participation will be encouraged.
After that, we will party the evening away, play games, talk, network, make friends, and share our love for our favorite genre. Mac’s Back’s will be on hand with some of the Hugo winners and nominees for sale.
Admission is simply drinks at the bar. Bottlehouse has been fantastic to give us the space for free. Outside food is welcome and we are laying out some party munchies, but more are welcome. Bring party food if you can.
On today’s Celestial Attic Podcast, we take you to that long ago land of Jem and the Holograms, the Hasbro toy line and associated animated TV series. I interview Rachel Pankiw about Jemcon 2018 coming to Cleveland next weekend. This show is part convention, a cosplay event, part Jem museum, and part toy fair with interest stretching well beyond just Jem and the Holograms to all of 1980s and 1990s animation.
Also from Jude Terror at Bleeding Cool, Marv Wolfman will be scripting a four-issue Diablo miniseries illustrated by Piotr Kowalski for Titan. Based in the video game, the series follows human investigators as they uncover humanities origins.
